For optimal preparation results: Our LECO mounting systems
Easy handling of specimens, protection of sensitive materials and achieving optimum edge definition: All this and much more is possible with the modern mounting systems from our store. Fully automatic warm mounting systems are just as much a part of our range as various polyester, acrylic or epoxy resins for cold mounting in your laboratory. Convince yourself and discover our high-quality assortment.
Metallographic Mounting: More protection and edge sharpness
When preparing samples in the laboratory, mounting is the second step after separating the materials..The aim is to fix the sample securely. Since the samples are to be further analyzed after mounting, their microstructure must not be damaged or otherwise impaired during this process. Edge sharpness can also be significantly increased through professional mounting. To achieve an optimal result, the sample should be thoroughly cleaned before mounting. This is the only way to ensure the various embedding agents can adhere to the surface. In addition to warm mounting using a mounting press, laboratories also use the cold embedding process, to process their samples. Both variants have their advantages, which we would now like to introduce to you in more detail.
Fully automatic warm mounting systems from LECO
During warm mounting, your sample is embedded with plastic granules using an embedding press which utilizes temperature and pressure. The advantages include excellent gap-free properties and the high hardness of the embedding media. Epoxy resins, such as those available in our online shop, have excellent hardness and chemical resistance. The diallyl phthalates from our range also have these properties, and ensure high edge sharpness with minimal gap formation. Anyone who uses the fully automatic LECO warm mounting systems from the MX400/MX50-series enjoys numerous other advantages:
- The systems enable highly efficient warm mounting and, with a width of just 200 millimeters, can also be used in small laboratories.
- The systems are operated via a touchscreen panel and are extremely simple and user-friendly.
- You can save your individual embedding methods to obtain reproducible results.
- With a required heating output of just 900/1300 watts, the systems work in an economic and cost-efficient way.
Our hot embedding systems have proven themselves in numerous laboratories and are constantly being further developed.
By the way: The appropriate consumables and operating materials are of course also available in our online shop!
Cold mounting media from LECO
In addition to warm mounting, cold mounting is another way of preparing samples - for example when dealing with a small sample volume or for embedding materials which cannot tolerate high temperatures and pressure. In our shop, we offer cold mounting media based on methyl methacrylate and epoxy resin mounting media. Acrylic hardens particularly quickly, has excellent abrasion properties, and enables good edge sharpness. Embedding with epoxy resin is a little more complex, but is the ideal choice when the quality of the flow and shrinkage properties is important. Are you only processing a small sample volume and want to find a cost-effective solution for cold embedding? Then we recommend polyester for simple and, above all, quick sample production.
